Great Places to Donate Items

Donating unwanted items is important for several reasons:

  • It helps reduce waste by keeping items out of landfills, which is beneficial for the environment.

  • You can support those in need, allowing your unwanted items to find a new home where they can be useful.

  • Donating can foster a sense of community and encourage others to give back as well.

  • Donations are tax-deductible - Don't forget to ask for a receipt!

Here are just a few of the amazing non-profits supporting those in need locally. I am always looking for more great non-profits to support! Check each of the websites, because some of them will even come to pick up items.

  1. Community Warehouse - Community Warehouse believes there are enough beds, blankets, pots, pans, and furnishings circulating in our community for everyone. They connect these donated household items to neighbors overcoming adversity, creating stronger homes and brighter futures.

  2. Union Gospel Mission - Union Gospel Mission seeks gently used and re-sellable furniture, appliances, clothing, and more. We can pick up your items for free.

  3. Vietnam Veterans of America - Donate clothing and other household items with Pickup Please! Donating is free and easy! On behalf of the Vietnam Veterans of America, Pickup Please will pick up your donations for free and leave you a tax deduction receipt.

  4. Habitat for Humanity Is one of my favorite organizations! Donating your items helps keep usable items out of our local landfill, and supports our mission of building strength, stability, and independence through affordable homeownership.

  5. Goodwill - One of the largest donation-collecting organizations. Goodwill organizations sell them in stores and online generating revenue to provide valuable employment training and job placement services for people in your community.

  6. Children’s Book Bank at SMART Reading - A great place to donate new and gently used children’s books.
